Bay Area Pun Off in San Francisco

In 2024 I won the Bay Area Pun Off and defended my title in the San Francisco Sketch Fest, where I fell to a competitor who promptly fled the country. I am coming back to reclaim what’s mine: the title of best (worst?) punner in the Bay Area. Come and root for me, the crowd response matters a lot!

An Evening with Pop Music

Myles Nye is a Berkeley dad who has been doing short form improv for over 30 years, and doing improv as a dad for nearly 15 years. Pop Music is what happens when an improv dad with a musical theater background goes to a lot of therapy and wants to bring some of that energy to a fun cabaret performance.

Supported by the incredible musical talents of Bryan Wong (keyboard) and Tess Taruskin (violin) plus special guests John (flute) and Rob (guitar and saxophone), there’s no other musical improv show that features a band quite like this. And quite a lot of tap dancing too!

As for the songs, we’ll do some improv about things dads like: such as going on family outings and offering unasked-for advice.

But we’ll also do some songs about things dads maybe aren’t as into: like talking about feelings and confronting the past.

The marquee event of the evening comes when the question is posed to the audience: what’s something your dad hasn’t said to you (yet) but if he did, it would feel good to hear it? Our songs are inspired by responses to this prompt.

Plus, special guest performances from legendary Oakland hip-hop dance maven Carla Service of Dance-a-Vision, and other surprises. It’s an evening you won’t want to miss, and it will be over before 8:30 PM, because dads run a tight ship!
